ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ACTIVE U.S. WAIVER APPLICANTS
PAC Announces Important Changes to U.S. Waiver Application Filing Fee & Submission
Customs & Border Protection (CBP) increases filing fee and now requires applicants in Canada to submit via electronic e-SAFE
PAC is announcing significant changes made by U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) that will directly impact Pardon Applications of Canada clients currently in the process of a U.S. Waiver (I-192) application.
Filing Fee & Submission Changes
Effective April 1, 2024, the filing fee for the I-192 Waiver application has increased from $585 USD to $1100 USD. This fee must be paid in full at the time of submission. All Waiver applications must now be submitted electronically via the online e-SAFE system, replacing the previous in-person submission at designated pre-clearance locations. Processing times by CBP can vary from 2-6 months, depending on workload and case specifics.
“It’s not easy to adjust to sudden and unexpected changes made by the U.S., but it is essential for our clients to be aware of these updates,” said Christopher Ketko, CEO of Pardon Applications of Canada. “We remain committed to doing everything possible to meet CBP’s application standards, ensuring our clients get the maximum opportunity for approval of their Waiver application.”
The CBP evaluates Waiver applications based on various criteria, including the seriousness of the offense, risk to society, the applicant’s reasons for entering the U.S., the recency of the offense, patterns of misconduct, and evidence of rehabilitation.
New Waiver Submission Service (WSS)
In response to these changes, PAC has launched a Waiver Submission Service (WSS) to handle the technical aspects of the e-SAFE submission. Clients may also opt out of this service and manage the submission independently. More details regarding the cost of WSS and how to order it will be forthcoming.
